Mrs. World 2006... Not So Fast!
I think pageants are just about as worthless as cheerleaders, which is why I find this so damn hilarious:

Ipods Are Evil
I, for one, think we should start outlawing Ipods. Why, just look at how they caused this horrible situation?!?!? Evil things, those Ipods. Evil.

ESA vs. Oklahoma: Fight!
According to Gamepolitics, Oklahoma has passed a law increasing government regulation of video game sales. This one groups video games depicting violence right up there with hardcore pornography, strip clubs, and porn websites.
Just in case nobody in Oklahoma was paying attention, the article also states that there have already been 6 courts over 5 years that have struck down laws with similar language and intent as unconstitutional. This one, too, will be fought by the ESA just like the previous laws. Isn't there someone in government that wants to stop the insanity? Stop the waste? I can only surmise that politicians have weighed the political capital they gain, for passing this law, against the actual cost to taxpayers and have decided that it's worth it. Scumbags.
Once again, government is trying to replace parenting. These kinds of measures should be opposed no matter what side of politics you espouse.

Out The Gates
So Bill Gates is leaving his Microsoft daily duties to concentrate on his global philanthropic work. Does it seem odd to anyone else that the only reason he can do such global philanthropic work is because of the success of the company he built? And without his guidance, the company could tank and take Bill's fortune with it, thereby removing his ability to do global philanthropic work...

Windows Vista and Secure Computing
I know, sounds like an oxymoron, but really...
In case you didn't know, Microsoft was pushing for a platform for secure computing called Palladium. They got several industry leaders together to push for this "secure computing" platform that would be supported from the hardware up. Intel is not only on board, but is leading the way on the proposal.
Well, according to Wikipedia, Windows Vista probably won't have it.
I'd say that's a good thing for both consumers and, although they might disagree, Microsoft as well. According to this information, Palladium would allow the operating system (read Windows) to check your MP3 collection for DRM protection. No DRM? MP3 gone. This is amongst many other possibilities, which the Wikipedia article does an excellent job of running down.
