Fat Tire Haiku

So round in my glass
So full of blissful roast hops
Yum, What ain't you gots?

I know, haiku's aren't supposed to rhyme, but I just couldn't resist.

Post About Nothing About Something

This is a post about things that I want to blog about, but I can't seem to muster the energy.

JonBenet and John Karr
Comair crash
Woman Space Tourist
Rebuilding New Orleans
Austrian Dungeon Girl

Well, since I've bulleted them, I guess I'll give it a shot...

JohnBenet and John Karr - His DNA didn't match the sliver of "DNA material" found in JohnBenet's underwear. I don't think this excludes him from the crime. Especially if there were two people at the scene. I don't want to pin it on this guy, but the non-match doesn't exclude him from being involved. Will we ever know more? Maybe once we hear more of this guy's confession.

Comair Crash - A shame. They think the resurfacing project may have contributed to the crash. Just goes to show, when you are managing a project you have to be at your best behavior or else. Luckily for the rest of us it doesn't usually involve people hurtling through the air at 500 Mph.

Woman Space Tourist - Interesting. Not much else right now.

Rebuilding New Orleans - We've just passed the 1 year anniversary of the Katrina disaster. There is no unified plan to rebuild the city. Accounts show that 1/3 of hospitals, schools, and public transportation are non-operational. My question is why rebuild New Orleans? Why?

Austrian Dungeon Girl - A shame. Again. Textbook case of Stockholm Syndrome. What I don't understand is how distanced she is from her parents. She seems intelligent from the statement she made, so why can't she see that her coldness towards her own family is hurting them so much? I don't expect her to have the same feelings as her family, but the least she could do is help them through this time.

That's all for now.

MVEMJSUN?

Well looks like Pluto is no longer a planet. Shucks. Now we have to change the old saying to...

My (Mercury)
Very (Venus)
Efficient (Earth)
Mother (Mars)
Just (Jupiter)
Served (Saturn)
Us (Uranus)
Nachos (Neptune)

My Next Cell Phone

Drumroll please...

From Spark Fun Electronics:
This is the ever popular Portable Rotary Phone, now in Red! Phone comes fully assembled and tested. All you have to do is open the phone, insert your SIM card, and turn the unit on! The unit will utilize your phone number and account minutes. Phone dials out like normal through the rotary. Incoming calls ring the original, loud, gong style metal bells. Please note: As with all cellular phones, there is no dial tone. While we thoroughly enjoying taking the Port-O-Rotary out on the town, please realize the sound quality will not be as good as your pocket phone. This phone is for entertainment purposes only!

How hilarious would this be to have this thing with you in Starbucks or rolling down the road talking on this thing? How about bringing it to work and setting it on your desk in your cube? Or maybe even finding a way to strap it to your belt. The possibilities are endless!

Hi There

Has it really been a week since I updated?

Been really busy at work preparing to go on vacation. Funny how you have to work twice as hard right before going on vacation so that you won't worry about work while you are on vacation.

Anywho, not much to update about right now. Although, I've been watching Flip This House, and something happened on the show (or TO the show) that has really gotten under my skin. Maybe I'll get to that spiel one day.

Pollution-Free Tower Of Power

This idea is so simple, it's just plain beautiful. An excerpt from the article at CNNMoney:

"Picture a 260-foot-diameter cylinder taller than the Sears Tower encircled by a two-mile-diameter transparent canopy at ground level. About 8 feet tall at the perimeter, where Davey has his feet planted, the solar collector will gradually slope up to a height of 50 to 60 feet at the tower's base.

Acting as a giant greenhouse, the solar collector will superheat the air with radiation from the sun. Hot air rises, naturally, and the tower will operate as a giant vacuum. As the air is sucked into the tower, it will produce wind to power an array of turbine generators clustered around the structure.

The result: enough clean, green electricity to power some 100,000 homes without producing a particle of pollution or a wisp of planet-warming gases."

Like I said, so simple it's beautiful. Can you imagine these things in farms maybe 20 miles square dotted across the deserts of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and California?

Awesome. I love it.
